Cable Drive

The arrangement controls a light source used in a photoelectric reading device for a sorter. A single small lamp travels beneath the card line, directly beneath a solar cell located above the card line, as the column selector is operated.

The joint movement of the light source and solar cell is effected by a pulley and cable arrangement in which the cables are crossed in such a manner as to cause both elements to travel in the same direction. In addition, a flat dual conductor tape is connected to the lamp and folds over along the lamp track and tape support as the lamp moves back and forth.
