Abstract

The drawing shows a reciprocating electro mechanical drive for a member such as a punch or the like. A driven member 11 is provided with a slot 12. Lever 14 is located in the slot 12 and has free movement. The forked end of 14 rides on a constantly rotating eccentric 15. The opposite end of 14 is pivoted at 16 in the end of an armature 17 mounted on a fixed pivot 18. Secured on the lower end of the member 1l is an armature 19 of a magnet 20.

Eccentric Drive

The drawing shows a reciprocating electro mechanical drive for a member such as a punch or the like. A driven member 11 is provided with a slot 12. Lever 14 is located in the slot 12 and has free movement. The forked end of 14 rides on a constantly rotating eccentric 15. The opposite end of 14 is pivoted at 16 in the end of an armature 17 mounted on a fixed pivot 18. Secured on the lower end of the member 1l is an armature 19 of a magnet 20.

When the armature 17 is attracted by its magnet 21, the pivot 16 becomes fixed and the eccentric 15 rocks lever 14 about this pivot to drive the member 11. If magnet 21 is released and magnet 20 is operated, the armature 19 holds the member 11 stationary and the eccentric rocks the lever 14 freely in the slot 12 as a pivot.
