Abstract

Rough handling of magnetic tape wound bobbin cores varies their magnetic properties. The 0 flux, 1 flux, switching time and coercive force of tape wound cores varies more than 10% after being shocked by a drop of one foot.

Treating Magnetic Cores

Rough handling of magnetic tape wound bobbin cores varies their magnetic properties. The 0 flux, 1 flux, switching time and coercive force of tape wound cores varies more than 10% after being shocked by a drop of one foot.

Impregnating the cores with transformer oil reduces the variation due to shock to 1 or 2%. This may be done by heating the cores in transformer oil, at a temperature of 28O degrees C for a time sufficient to impregnate the core.
