Gated Two-Way EXCLUSIVE OR Trigger

The device is a trigger arrangement which is provided with an Exclusive OR gated input.

The gated two-way Exclusive OR trigger consists of five AND blocks and one OR block with suitable feedback to provide sequential circuit operation. Data signals X(1) and X(2) are Exclusive OR'rd into the trigger under control of the gate signal. If data X(1) and X(2) are equal to 1, 1 or 0, 0, positive signals are applied to data lines X(1) and X(2) or positive signals are applied to data lines bar X(1) and bar X(2). If this is followed by a positive gate signal, outputs Y(1) and bar Y(1) go negative and positive, respectively, via AND circuit 2 or AND circuit 3 and OR circuit 7 indicating that the Exclusive OR condition has not been met. As soon as Y(1) goes positive, the trigger becomes latched via AND circuit 4 if positive 1 bit signals are present or via AND circuit 5 if positive 0 bit signals are present. If the gate is removed, the trigger also becomes latched via AND circuit 6 so that the data inputs may be terminated.

If data X(1) and X(2) are equal to 1, 0 or 0, 1, positive 1 bit and 0 bit signals are applied to data lines X(1) and X(2) or positive 0 bit and 1 bit signals are applied to X(1) and X(2). If this is followed by a positive gate signal, the latch is removed and outputs Y(1) and bar Y(1) go positive and negative, respectively, via AND circuit 2 and OR circuit 7 indicating that the Exclusive OR condition has been met.
