Abstract

The hydraulic port-sensing positioning device features a flapper valve 1 located in the fluid entry duct 2. By virtue of the pressure unbalance produced by the difference in lengths of the fluid flow paths from the entry port to the selectively opened discharge port, the flapper valve moves to divert the flow toward the longer flow path and seals off fluid to the shorter now path.

Hydraulic Setting Mechanism

The hydraulic port-sensing positioning device features a flapper valve 1 located in the fluid entry duct 2. By virtue of the pressure unbalance produced by the difference in lengths of the fluid flow paths from the entry port to the selectively opened discharge port, the flapper valve moves to divert the flow toward the longer flow path and seals off fluid to the shorter now path.

A pressure unbalance substantially equal to the gauge pressure of the fluid supply is thus produced to move the rotor 3 via the shorter path to seek and center on the selectively opened port as, for example, the port 4.
