Abstract

The apparatus accomplishes word for word translation. Recorded alphameric data are fed into a recognition machine 1 which generates a locating code signal for each bit of data recognized. U. S. Patent 2,646,465 describes a speech recognition device. The locating code signal is fed into cathode ray tube 2 causing the raster of the tube to scan a section of a photographic matrix 3.

Each section of matrix 3 contains a recording of an audio signal of a word which can be read by a photocell 4 when scanned by the raster of cathode ray tube 2. The audio signal recordings can be similar to those used in motion pictures. The photocell output 4 is then amplified and broadcast. U.S. Patents 2, 754,360 and 2,872,669 describe details of raster positioning, broadcast and optical systems, together with matrix constructions.
