Variable Compensation For Magnetic Circuit

This winding structure provides variable compensation in a multi aperture magnetic core logic circuit to improve the contrast between the one and zero outputs.

Compensation windings 1 and 2 are in series with output and drive windings 3 and 4 to control and sense flux changes in both the output leg 0 and compensation leg A. The windings and flux changes are such that output current is always in opposition to compensation current.

For a Zero transfer sequence, the drive pulse reverses leg A flux and increases leg 0 flux BR to BM. Compensation current in winding 1 cancels output current in winding 3 resulting in zero output.

For a One transfer, the drive pulse reverses leg 0 flux and increases leg A flux from BR to BM. Compensation current in winding 1 is much smaller than that for a Zero transfer and only slightly reduces output current in winding 3 resulting in a One output.

This variable compensation, that is, the ratio of compensation current in winding 1 due to a flux reversal to that due to a flux increase from BR to BM, provides the good output contrast noted previously.
