Drop Stacker

The drop stacker is readily adjustable to stack 51 column or 80 column record cards.

Operation of handle 1 actuates a rack and gear mechanism carrying the pocket back stops 2. These move forwardly in the case of 51 column cards and backwardly against the read plate 3 for 80 column cards.

Coincident with displacement of the pocket stops, a bell crank 4 attached to the rear carrier 5 actuates another carrier 6 upon which is mounted a knife 7 for each pocket. The knives pierce the stacker springs 8 at a point designed to provide the same spring rate in proportion to card deck weight whether 51 column or 80 column cards are stacked. A high rate spring is effected for 80 column cards, and a low rate spring for 51 column cards, both from the same unit.
