Punch Checking

This arrangement detects whether a selected punch has perforated a record card.

A punch 1 is activated and driven downwardly when it is desired to perforate a particular location of the card. A punch restoring arm 2 pivoted at 3 is connected to the punch to also move downwardly. While the punch restoring arm 3 moves down, a portion 4 of the arm moves up. This portion creates an impact pressure on a crystal 5.

The pressure on the crystal causes current to flow. This is amplified to indicate the punch has moved sufficiently to perforate the card.
