Radiator Controlled Resistance Iron

A tool for hot forming a low melting material such as nylon and the like comprises an electrically heated electrode 1 within a handle grip 2 made of material of low heat conductive capacity.

The electrode includes a body portion 3 and a welding tip 4 coupled by a heat conductive section 5 slideable within the body portion and adapted to be secured in it by a set screw 6. Tip 4 may or may not be made integral with section 5. Adjustment of section 5 with reference to external scribe marks 7 permits regulation of the length of section 5 exposed to the surrounding air for dissipating heat from tip 4. This provides a control of the temperature of tip 4.
