Static Card Reader

A static reader provided with 960 read brushes selects and reads a row of an 80 column card, a 5 or 8 row for example.

A program device directs a drive clutch to move the commutator brushes to a predetermined position to engage a row of contacts to read a selected single row. Normally, in a static reader, the complete card is read sequentially row by row. The arrangement permits the commutator brushes to skip as many rows as determined by the program device and drive clutch to read the selected row.
