Abstract

Flexible connections in data processing machines are made through cords and plugs 10 and jacks 11 in a panel board having a removable panel 12. The cords complete circuits in accordance with the problem to be performed. A fixed back panel 13 is provided with spring contacts 14 connected to the principle circuits in the machine. The back panel is secured in a framework 15, the top 16 of which is formed with an opening 17, to permit insertion and removal of panel 12.

Mounted in the frame 15 is a U shaped carrier 18, the members of which are channeled on the inner face and formed with a semicircular groove in the outer surface. Located in the groove portion of each side member 20 is a shaft 21, on which is secured two pinions 22 and two rollers 23. The top of each shaft is positioned in a slotted block 24, secured to the underside of the top 16. A finger 25 is secured near the top of shaft 21 and acts as a locking member by engaging a block 26 on panel 12. The pinions mesh with racks 27 secured to the inner faces of member 20. Located in the circular groove in the bottom member of carrier 18 is a shaft 28, on which is secured two eccentric rollers 30 that slidably mount the carrier 18, on the bottom of frame 15.
