Temperature Detector

A temperature detecting device consists of a plurality of magnetic cores each of which has a different Curie temperature and, therefore, changes its magnetic characteristics at a different temperature.

Cores 10, 11 and 12 consisting of rectangular hysteresis loop materials and each having a different Curie temperature are commonly linked by windings 13 and 14. A source 15 is adapted to pulse winding 14 alternately with opposite polarity pulses. The cores are set to one of their stable states by pulsing winding 14 in one direction and are set to the other stable state by an opposite polarity pulse.

When a magnetic material experiences increases in temperature, a continuous decrease in flux density, coercive force and the value of the switching parameter is experienced which decreases to zero at the Curie temperature.

The output winding 13 is connected to a capacitor 16 through a resistor 17 and diode 18 and thence to a utilization device 19 through a detection unit 20.

With each of the cores 10, 11 and 12 having a different Curie temperature, the output signal obtained on winding 13 decreases with increases in temperature and the device may be calibrated to give an accurate measurement of temperature. FC 49-400. SU Measurements FC
