Abstract

A print hammer 10 when operated strikes paper 11 and ribbon 12 against engraved type members 13 on a continuously moving type wheel 14. Operation of the hammer occurs when solenoid 15 is energized causing plunger 16 to rotate linkage 17 about pivot 18 driving hammer 10 forward.

Timing Mechanism For Printing Device

A print hammer 10 when operated strikes paper 11 and ribbon 12 against engraved type members 13 on a continuously moving type wheel 14. Operation of the hammer occurs when solenoid 15 is energized causing plunger 16 to rotate linkage 17 about pivot 18 driving hammer 10 forward.

The striking of the type members 13 precisely at the time they are in print position is accomplished by a ratchet member 19 which rotates in synchronism with type wheel 14. Solenoid 15 is preferably pre energized, with the teeth 20 of ratchet 19 serving to prevent operation of plunger 16 until the precise alignment occurs.
