Abstract

The circuit provides for sampling the condition of an input line S. An output is obtained on an output line O, if a pulse is present on the input line S, when the leading edge of a gating pulse arrives at a gate input G. If a pulse is present on the input line, the output line comes up, when the input line was up just prior to the gate signal arrival. The output stays up just as long as the gate signal is present, even though the signal on the input line may have been of relatively short duration. This action is illustrated on the waveform chart shown below the circuit.

Sampling Gate

The circuit provides for sampling the condition of an input line S. An output is obtained on an output line O, if a pulse is present on the input line S, when the leading edge of a gating pulse arrives at a gate input G. If a pulse is present on the input line, the output line comes up, when the input line was up just prior to the gate signal arrival. The output stays up just as long as the gate signal is present, even though the signal on the input line may have been of relatively short duration. This action is illustrated on the waveform chart shown below the circuit.

It is evident that the input signal pulse, if present at the correct time, is stretched to give an output pulse whose duration falls with the end of the gate signal. This action is effected in the circuit only by the use of AND logic blocks A1 to A3 and OR logic block O4, and a complementer C5, it being particularly noted that the conventional singleshot multivibrator as normally used in this type circuit is not required. The subscripts N and P in the logic blocks define the conductivity type of the base element of the current type transistor units of which that logic block is comprised.

In its operation, with line G and S down, A1, A2, A(3) and O4 are inoperative.
