Cable Harness Clamp

As shown, a positive-locking, adjustable-size clamp surrounds and rigidly secures a bundle of wires together to form a cable assembly.

The reusable clamp 10, in the form of a flexible nylon strap, has a middle portion 5 which is formed to be secured to a support member (not shown). Strap end portion 6 has a slotted aperture 7 through which the toothed strap end 8 is inserted and drawn, thus tightly securing the wires together. Appropriately staggered teeth 9, on opposite sides of the strap, provide a positive locking action in conjunction with aperture 7. Tooth 9a acts as a wedge on strap end 6, forcing it against tooth 9b.

The walls of aperture 7 are relieved to allow the aperture to cooperate with the radius on the crest of each tooth, so that an appropriately applied force on strap end 6 will allow disengagement with the toothed strap end 8 to permit the clamp to be removed from around the wires.
