Abstract

An electromagnetic indicator is shown which converts electrical manifestations of numerical values in a two-out-of-five code to a visual indication in the decimal system. It employs five angularly disposed electromagnets and a permanent magnet rotor to which an indicator is fixed.

Numeral Indicator

An electromagnetic indicator is shown which converts electrical manifestations of numerical values in a two-out-of-five code to a visual indication in the decimal system. It employs five angularly disposed electromagnets and a permanent magnet rotor to which an indicator is fixed.

By energization of any two coils in combination the individual fields produced by the individual coils are resolved in a common resultant vector which lies along one of ten predetermined angular lines to represent the ten decimal values. The permanent magnet rotor aligns with the vector to produce the visual indication.
