Abstract

A collet 1 of an electrically conductive material, with two slots formed in it, is adapted to fit over and cling to a test pin that is either wire wrapped or bare. The collet is extended by pressing on the plunger 2 to compress the coil spring 3. An external casing 4 contains the plunger 2, spring 3 and collet 1.

Self Holding Scope Probe

A collet 1 of an electrically conductive material, with two slots formed in it, is adapted to fit over and cling to a test pin that is either wire wrapped or bare. The collet is extended by pressing on the plunger 2 to compress the coil spring 3. An external casing 4 contains the plunger 2, spring 3 and collet 1.

A socket 5 is secured to the collet by a rivet 6 which is peened over. The socket 5 is moved in the slot 7 in the side of the casing 4. Slot 7 extends at least 180 degrees about the circumference of the casing 4 so the socket 5 may be rotated for easy access to the socket.
