Abstract

Use is made of a single relay R1, R2, etc., per column, which is energized by a CB pulse from a contact roll whenever the corresponding brush B1, B2, etc., detects a hole in a card. Transfer contacts R1-1, R2-2, etc., provide circuits through normally open contacts to an AND circuit controlling a double punch trigger DP, while normally closed contacts provide circuits to an AND circuit controlling a blank column trigger BC.

Use is made of a single relay R1, R2, etc., per column, which is energized by a CB pulse from a contact roll whenever the corresponding brush B1, B2, etc., detects a hole in a card. Transfer contacts R1-1, R2-2, etc., provide circuits through normally open contacts to an AND circuit controlling a double punch trigger DP, while normally closed contacts provide circuits to an AND circuit controlling a blank column trigger BC.

A short DP sample pulse is applied to the AND circuit of the DP trigger at the start of each CB pulse, so as to operate the trigger only if R1, R2, etc., have been picked by an earlier CB pulse in the cycle.

A Blank Column sample pulse is applied to the AND circuit of the BC trigger at the end of the cycle to gate with the Blank Column pulse from the contact roll through normally closed contacts R1-1, R2-1, etc., if no hole is read during the cycle.
