Abstract

Eleven triggers in folded-ring configuration provide outputs which may be tapped through AND and OR circuits to provide output pulses. The latter have precise timing within a 20-increment cycle and precise durations of from 1 to 19 increments.

Folded Ring Clock

Eleven triggers in folded-ring configuration provide outputs which may be tapped through AND and OR circuits to provide output pulses. The latter have precise timing within a 20-increment cycle and precise durations of from 1 to 19 increments.

Each trigger 1-11 is on for 10 increments and off for 10 increments as shown in the timing chart. All triggers are reset initially. The on side of each trigger conditions the next higher numbered trigger for turnon by the next advance pulse on advance line 12. The off side of each trigger similarly conditions the next trigger for turn-off by the next advance pulse. Trigger 10 feeds back to trigger 1 in inverted sense. The on side of trigger 10 conditions trigger 1 for turn off and the off side of trigger 10 conditions trigger 1 for turn on. Ten advance pulses turn triggers 1-10 on. The 11th advance pulse turns on trigger 11 and turns off trigger
1. Advance pulses 12-20 turn off triggers 2-10 in sequence, the 20th pulse turning off trigger 11.

AND circuit 13 connects to the output taps of triggers 3 and 5.

These two triggers are coincidently on during increments 5-13 of the cycle. OR circuit 14 taps triggers 7 and 9 for output during increments 7-19. Other timed pulses of various durations may be tapped similarly.
