Abstract

This switch is manually operated for normal make and break operation. In the event of an emergency, the operating lever A is pressed or struck to move the spring loaded pivot bushings C downwardly and causes the operating lever A to disengage from the contact bar B. The spring E then drives the contact bar B away from the contacts F to interrupt the electrical connection.

Emergency Break Toggle Switch

This switch is manually operated for normal make and break operation. In the event of an emergency, the operating lever A is pressed or struck to move the spring loaded pivot bushings C downwardly and causes the operating lever A to disengage from the contact bar B. The spring E then drives the contact bar B away from the contacts F to interrupt the electrical connection.

For proper normal operation, the toggle spring D must exert sufficient pressure to overcome the pressure of the spring E.
