Remote Inquiry System

A computer is provided with a remote inquiry system which employs a dial telephone and a portable battery-operated audio signal generator. The signal generator is a transistor oscillator operating within the audio frequency spectrum, followed by a separation amplifier and a miniature loudspeaker. The unit is mounted in a small case together with a long life battery.

To operate, a call is placed to the computer from a remote telephone in normal manner. After the connection is established, the signal generator is turned on and air-coupled to the telephone so that information may be fed to the computer by dialing appropriate sequences of numbers. The computer is arranged to answer in prerecorded voice signals.
