DIP Escapement for Feeding System

       This disclosure describes a novel mechanical that feeds
DIPs (Dual Inline Packages) from a slide to a vacuum pickup head on a
feeder mechanism.  The is passive in its design, which means that no
or air is required, nor is any computer control for its operation.

      Referring to the figure, the slide pack mounts into the
escapement 6, and the DIPs 2 are fed (stacked on their long axis).

      The basic feeder consists of two major parts.
        Tube Adapter 1
        The top part of the escapement 6 is machined to
        mate to a slide pack tube of DIPs 2.
        DIP Escapement 6
        The DIP escapement consists of a pivoting machined
        guide 5 that is spring loaded into a vertical
        position.  In this vertical position, the top of
        the guide 5 blocks the end of the slide pack.
        This prevents any DIPs 2 from falling out of the
        tube.

      The bottom of the guide 5 is designed so that an cylinder on
the picker can tilt the guide 5 until it is flush with the back of
the pack.  At that time, DIP 2 can slide down guide 5.  As it slides
onto the guide 5, the 2 leads are aligned horizontally by a machined
3 that they slide around.  After the DIP 2 completely exited the
slide pack, it hits a 4 with the end of its body.
