       A single recirculating filter employed to keep air clean
on equipments such as disk files does not remove large particles
thrown from a hub. additional filters may be necessary to absorb
particles.

      This article describes the design of a single filter a
recycling function in which the surface of the paper filter catches
and traps large as well as conventionally filtering out fine passing
through it.  Thus, a single filter the functions of both fine and
coarse filtering, manufacturing assembly, and providing a faster of
air.

      In Fig. 1 a horn moulding 1 funnels high velocity air 2 from
the edge of the disks into the body of filter box 3 which contains a
folded paper filter 4.  A 6 directs the air along the surface of the
paper and the fold 7 where the heavy particles are trapped.  At tip
of the tongue 6 the air changes direction to exit at top of the
filter box 8, while the heavy particles their trajectory.  By using
50% efficient filter instead of the traditional 99% efficient paper,
some will also be trapped in the paper surface before fold due to the
more open texture of the paper.  In the airflow to the low pressure
area 5 is together with the fine filtering action.  The differential
(P1-P2) across filter 4 forces air the texture of the filter paper 4,
trapping fine low pressure air P2 in the clean air region 5 is to the
