Laser-Curable Formulation for the Production of Functional Model Parts From Stereo Lithography

       The disclosed formulations produce model parts with
similar properties to polycarbonate.  This allows the model part, not
only to be viewed spatially, but also to be used as a functioning
part.  The lack of brittleness also allows the part to be further
machined and manipulated.

      Stereo Lithography is currently being utilized to produce model
parts which can be checked for dimensional properties.  The parts
produced from the "current" formulation cannot be used in any
functional test because the cured material is too brittle and cannot
be further machined.  Three representative formulations will be
presented here which have increased engineering potential over the
"current" formulation.  The physical properties for the cured
material show improved toughness, elongation and tensile strength,
resulting in a more functional and machinable part.
