Abstract

Specifying the Types of Time Components

This article describes a method for specifying the
components of a time field.  Individual countries or even individual
users will be able to specify only the components of time that are
their preference.  These specifications may be kept external to the
program and brought in at window creation time making it NLS enabled.

Create a Time control that will allow an application to have a
Time with the ability for each country or each user to choose the
type of components that make up the time.  One user could choose to
have time zone or am/pm shown as part of its Time field while another
user may choose not to.

Allow the application the capability to choose the components
that make up the time field. The possible choices for a time field
could include hour, minute, second, millisecond, am/pm, and time
zone. This information would be passed to the time control as part of
a format string at window creation time.  The format string would
contain codes for each component that the user desires.  The Time
control will create and operate only the component windows specified.
