Abstract

This article describes a method for specifying the style of each date component and its field justification (right, left, centered). Individual countries or even individual users will be able to specify the exact style for each of the components of the Date field. These specifications may be kept external to the program and brought in at window creation time making it NLS enabled.

Specifying the Style And Justification of Each Date Component

This article describes a method for specifying the style
of each date component and its field justification (right, left,
centered).  Individual countries or even individual users will be
able to specify the exact style for each of the components of the
Date field.  These specifications may be kept external to the program
and brought in at window creation time making it NLS enabled.

Create a Date control that will allow an application to have a
Date with the ability for each country or each user to choose the
style for each type of component that makes up the date. A user could
choose to see the month type of component in any of the following
forms:  March, Mar, 03, 3, III.  Each component of the Date should be
specifiable as full name, abbreviated name, digits, digits with zero
suppress, or Roman numerals.  In addition, the data may be right
justified or left justified in the field.

Allow the application the capability to choose the style and
justification of each of the components that make up the Date field.
This information would be passed to the date control as part of a
formatting string at creation time.  The Date control will display
the individual Date components in the styles specified by the
application.
