Abstract

This article describes a method for specifying the style of each time component and its justification (left, right, or center). Individual countries or even individual users will be able to specify the exact style for each of the components of the Time field. These specifications may be kept external to the program and brought in at window creation time making it NLS enabled.

Specifying the Style And Justification of Time Components

This article describes a method for specifying the style
of each time component and its justification (left, right, or
center). Individual countries or even individual users will be able
to specify the exact style for each of the components of the Time
field.  These specifications may be kept external to the program and
brought in at window creation time making it NLS enabled.

Create a Time control that will allow an application to have a
Time with the ability for each country or each user to choose the
style for each type of component that makes up the time. A user could
choose to see the hour type of component in any of the following
forms: 07, 7, VII. The am/pm type of component in any of the
following forms: am, a.m., or noon. Each component of the Time should
be specifiable as full name, abbreviated name, digits, digits with
zero suppress, or Roman numerals.  In addition, the data may be right
justified or left justified in the field.

Allow the application the capability to choose the style and
justification of each of the components that make up the Time field.
This information would be passed to the time control as part of a
formatting string at creation time.  The Time control will display
the individual Time components in the styles specified by the
application.
