Acoustic Noise Reduction Cover As Muffler Effect for Wire Dot Matrix Impact Print Head

Disclosed is a device for acoustic noise reduction of a
wire dot matrix impact print head without the heat-up degradation
using aluminum cover as a muffler effect.

Fig. 1 illustrates how to build the aluminum cover as a muffler
effect into the conventional wire dot matrix impact print head 4.
The cover is comprised of front side cover components of a front
cover 1, front shield plate 2, 3 having square holes and rear side
cover components of a shield plate 5 and rear cover 6.  These cover
components are built into the conventional wire dot matrix impact
print head 4 along the longitudinal axis of the print head and the
outside view after assembly is shown in Fig. 2.  The configuration of
the muffler effect cover is illustrated in the cross-sectional view
of Fig. 3.  The hatched portions are the aluminum cover components
having silicon rubber coated inside the surface.  The silicon rubber
coating is intended to prevent the aluminum cover from generating the
additional acoustic noise due to the metal-to-metal contact with the
print head.

The front side components of front cover 1, front shield plates
2 and 3 make the open space 2 and 3.  As the print head 4
has an opening under the bottom of the print head nose, the front
side structure causes the two-step expansion type reactance muffler
effect.  The rear side components of shield plate 5 and rear co...
