Abstract

This article describes a mechanism for IBM's Document Interchange Architecture (DIA) Services whereby an enterprise can specify and identify a mail distribution which permits the distribution to be delivered to a recipient which is different than the intended recipient of the distribution based upon the intended recipient of the distribution. An enterprise may wish to allow a distribution to be delivered to an alternate recipient depending on who was the originally intended recipient. Currently no mechanism exists in DIA whereby the originator of a distribution can specify that the distribution may be received by an alternate recipient for particular recipients of the distribution.

distribution. Enterprises can interchange information regarding
whether an alternate recipient is permitted for the recipient by
providing a self-defining field within the ATTRIBUTE-LIST operand
which represents the recipient and by providing a self-defining field
which represents the alternate recipient for the specified recipient.

This mechanism permits an enterprise which is the destination
of a distribution to redirect a distribution for particular
recipients while not permitting alternate recipients for other
recipients of the same distribution. Originato...
