Abstract

This article describes a mechanism for IBM's Document Interchange Architecture (DIA) services whereby an enterprise can record and associate a comment with a particular action or command that was performed on a document. An enterprise or individual may wish to convey additional information regarding an action that was performed on a document. No mechanism currently exists in the DIA Services which would permit an enterprise to record a comment associated with a particular action performed on a document.

Mechanism for Logging Comments to History Log

This article describes a mechanism for IBM's Document
Interchange Architecture (DIA) services whereby  an enterprise can
record and associate a comment with a particular action or command
that was performed on a document. An enterprise or individual may
wish to convey additional information regarding an action that was
performed on a document. No mechanism currently exists in the DIA
Services which would permit an enterprise to record a comment
associated with a particular action performed on a document.

An enterprise can interchange information associated with a
particular action performed on a document by creating a historical
control object which contains a self-defining field which defines the
action and a field for a descriptive text describing a comment to be
associated with the action .

This mechanism  permits an enterprise to convey its own
descriptive explanation of actions performed on a document. This
mechanism also permits enterprises to historically record this
information and to interchange this information with other
enterprises at some future time.
