Specifying a Primary Recipient

This article describes a mechanism for IBM's Document
Interchange Architecture (DIA) mail distributions whereby an
enterprise can differentiate the classification of recipients. No
mechanism currently exists in DIA whereby different procedures can be
executed  in the REQUEST-DISTRIBUTION command based upon the
classification of the recipient.

By providing an operand which identifies the recipient as being
a primary recipient of a multi-destination distribution an enterprise
will be notified as to whether multiple distributions should be
created for distribution. The creation of a self-defining operand
which contains a field which identifies the recipient's address and a
field which identifies if the intended recipient is to be considered
as a primary recipient of the original distribution permits
enterprises to interpret proper classifications of a recipient and to
provide any constraints on a recipient of such classification.
