Specifying the Authorizers of a Distribution

This article describes a mechanism for IBM's Document
Interchange Architecture (DIA) mail distributions whereby an
originator of a distribution can convey to a recipient information as
to whom the individuals were that authorized a document to be
distributed.

No mechanism currently exists in DIA whereby an originator of a
distribution can notify the recipient as to who authorized the
originator to distribute a document.  By providing an operand which
identifies the individuals who authorized the distribution on the
REQUEST- DISTRIBUTION command, an enterprise upon receiving the
command could convey the information to the recipient as to who
authorized the distribution.

The creation of a self-defining operand permits enterprises to
convey to the recipients of distribution the individuals who
authorized the distribution and permits enterprises to perform
actions upon a distribution based upon who authorized the
distribution.
