Undelivered Distributions Due to Subscription Terminated

This article describe a mechanism for IBM's Document
Interchange Architecture (DIA) mail distributions whereby an
enterprise can convey to a recipient information regarding
undelivered distributions.

No mechanism currently exists in  DIA whereby a recipient's
enterprise can notify the originator's enterprise that the
originator's distribution has been discarded due to the recipient's
subscription being terminated at the destination enterprise. Current
notifications of undelivered mail to an originator of distribution
are contained in the Un-Delivered  Mail Log Status Document. By
providing a value in the "Notification Code" field of the
Un-Delivered Mail Log Status Document which represents that the
intended recipient has been terminated for such service(s) which
would permit the distribution to be delivered permits the originator
to be notified as to the status of the distribution.

This mechanism provides the capability of notifying the
originator of the distribution if the distribution has been discarded
by the destination enterprise. Using this mechanism permits an
enterprises to be aware of which distributions were actually
delivered to a destination.
