Interchanging an Incomplete Copy of a Distribution

This article describes a mechanism for IBM's Document
Interchange Architecture (DIA) mail distributions whereby an
enterprise can convey to a recipient information that a replicated
distribution does not convey all of the components of the original
distribution.

Currently the REQUEST-DISTRIBUTION command is used by DIA
Services to distribute a document. By providing an operand which
identifies the distribution as an incomplete copy, the recipient
could be notified of such a distribution. The creation of a
self-defining operand which contains a field which identifies the
distribution as an incomplete copy of a previous distribution permits
enterprises to forward distributions using the same unique identifier
as the original distribution and signifying the distribution as
different by use of the incomplete copy operand.
