Operator Removable Hard File

Disclosed is a device for the insertion and removal of a
hard file from a system for security reasons.

A bracket is attached to the end of a hard file, providing a
mounting surface for the power, signal and ground cable connectors.
A spring-activated release lever and a protective housing are also
attached to the hard file, providing protection from shock.

The hard file can now be inserted into a system containing a
receptive retention device.  This device contains the mating cable
connectors capable of multiple insertions and tapered pins which pro
vide alignment into a receiving hole in the hard file bracket.  The
cable connectors are attached to the device through rubber grommets
which provide both horizontal and vertical alignment to the receiving
connectors.  The device is adjustable for positioning the front-to-
back location of the hard file.

      The advantages are:
1.   Provides an operator removable file for security.
2.   File retention is accomplished through common electrical
connectors with a detent that is felt and heard.
3.   Self-aligning cable connector mounts.
