The resulting connectors may be of different pin count depending on the number of 2X13 Mini-PV connectors used. Modular Mini-PV Connector Using the 2x13 Mini-PV Connector

       Disclosed is a modular connector system which provides
the capability to utilize Mini-PV connectors as panel-mount
cable-to-cable connectors.  The resulting connectors may be of
different pin count depending on the number of 2X13 Mini-PV
connectors used.  The modular connector is a low cost method of
obtaining a high performance panel- mount cable-to-cable connector
system.

      The modular Mini-PV connector system utilizes standard 2 pin
per row by 13 pin per column Mini-PV connectors to form a family of
connectors.  The Mini-PV connectors are placed adjacent in a row to
form various pin count connectors.  In this application the Mini-PV
connector 1 is modified slightly by adding a retention tab 2 to the
top and bottom of the connector (Fig. 1).  This retention tab holds
the connector in the modular connector housing.

      There are two connector housings: a panel-mount housing 3 and a
removable housing 4 (Fig. 2).  The panel-mount half is mounted to a
connector panel using hex standoffs 5.  The standoffs screw into
mounting ears 6 located at the sides of the connector housing.  The
removable half of the connector 4 has two thumb screws 7 which are
used to fasten the connector halves together.  Depending on the
application, the connector cables 8 and 9 may be unshielded or
shielded. The shielded cable is grounded to the connector housing.
