Scattering And Gathering Data Among Presentation Spaces

The described function provides a method by which data
from one object can be scattered and imaged in different presentation
spaces and data from different objects can be gathered into the same
presentation space.

The scattering and gathering of data are accomplished by
embedding Object Environment Groups (OEGs) within an object.  Each
OEG contains a Map Data Object (MDO) structured field.  The MDO(1)
function maps the object to the desired object space.  An example of
data scatter is given in Fig. 1.  An example of data gather is given
in Fig. 2.

In the figures, the acronyms represent structured fields that
appear in the data stream that describe the document.  The meaning of
the acronyms and the structured field function is as follows:

      STRUCTURED
ACRONYM     FIELD        FUNCTION
MRT       Map Revision   Maps revisable text objects (e.g.,
Text           A, B, or C) to presentation spaces
(e.g., AREA 1 or AREA 2) and may
specify that the content of the
object be placed at a specific
                          position (e.g., CURRENT POSITION)
                          within the presentation space.  If
a position is not specified, the
data is placed starting at an
                          initial position which is specified
by other structured fields such as
                          an Object Area Position (OBP)
                          structured field.
