Create a Search Result Document Sub-Profile

This article describes a method whereby an inter-
Changeable Search- Result-Document Sub-profile can be created after a
SEARCH.

A library user may wish to know the information about a search.
For instance, he or she may wish to know the date and time the
search was executed, the time limit set for the search, the maximum
number of hits set for the search, total number of documents found,
the information of the searched libraries, etc.  This information is
either set by the user before the search is performed, or in the
search result.  No mechanism prior to this architecture exists in the
Document Interchange Architecture to provide this information to the
library user after the SEARCH has been performed.

This article provides a mechanism whereby a library user can be
informed about the information related to a search, like the date and
time the search was executed, the time limit set for the search, the
maximum number of hits set for the search, etc.

This capability is provided by defining the syntax and the
semantics of a Search-Result-Document Sub-profile.  The Search-
Result-Document Sub-profile is defined in such a way that it follows
the encoding rules of the Document Interchange Profile and,
therefore, is interchangeable. This sub-profile will be created by
the search process and will be available to the user who performed
the search.
