Store Search Results for Later Reference

This article describes a method for library users to
store the results of the search for later reference.

A library user may wish to perform a search and be able to
store the search results away in such a way that it can be either
viewed or updated at a later time.  No mechanism prior to this
architecture exists in the Document Interchange Architecture to
support this function.

This article provides a mechanism whereby a library user can
specify that the search results be stored in a document for later
reference.

This capability is provided by defining the syntax and the
semantics of a Search-Result-Document, by specifying the name of the
Search-Result-Document in the operand section of the SEARCH command,
and by allowing library users to retrieve, update, or re-use the
Search-Result-Document in subsequent searches.  The Search-Result-
Document is created as a regular document, and can be accessed by
library users with appropriate access authorities.
