Abstract

The disclosed power outlet device provides a capability of remotely powering up products that do not implement the OEMI (Original Equipment Manufacturers Information) for IBM System/360 and System/370 Power Control Interfaces. The OEMI Power Control actuates a relay which allows power to be transmitted to the product power outlet. A circuit breaker (CB) can be included to limit power or, as an alternative, the rating of the OEMI power control be such that the "wall circuit breaker" (the feeding CB) limits current so that the CB does not have to be duplicated in the OEMI power output unit. This permits products that do not implement OEMI power control to take advantage of this control. Multiple product outputs can be provided for products that do not use much power.

       The disclosed power outlet device provides a capability

      The OEMI power control is a family of functions which contains:
1.   Special line cords with plugs adapted to requirements of various
countries or municipalities.
2.   A 24V power supply to operate the OEMI interface.
3.   A contactor or relay to activate the output sockets.
4.   The OEMI interface which can be driven from a remote
     control.
5.   An optional circuit breaker for control of current.
6.   An output socket.
7.   Optional additional output sockets.

      The principal advantage of the disclosed device is that the
OEMI power interface does not have to be built into every product.
