Abstract

Disclosed is a new carrier speed control method for Dot Impact Printer. In case of the Dot Impact Printer, it is very important that the carrier speed control adapt itself to the printing frequency of a print head with fast carrier movement. This problem was resolved by adopting a new method described below.

Full Logic Carrier Control

       Disclosed is a new carrier speed control method for Dot
Impact Printer.  In case of the Dot Impact Printer, it is very
important that the carrier speed control adapt itself to the printing
frequency of a print head with fast carrier movement. This problem
was resolved by adopting a new method described below.

      - A program measures the printing frequency of print head
correctly by timer control for each dot.  And a program feeds the
result back in printing by adjusting head control parameters.

      This new program has five procedures which are the main
procedure, interrupt control procedure, speed measurement procedure,
speed calculator procedure and adjustment value set procedure.  This
new program has the following advantages:

      - This program can make an exact feedback control because it
measures printing frequency directly.
       Measurement position and range are adjustable.
       This program can be easily used with other printer
       products.

      The speed measurement process will be best understood with
reference to Fig. 1.  The focal point of Fig. 1 is timer control
logic for each dot because this procedure will be called for each
dot. In accordance with this logic, a program can measure printing
frequency of the print head directly.
