Multistrike Solid Ink Film Ribbon for Wire Matrix Printers

Disclosed is a method for making a superior ribbon for a
multiwire type printer.  The formulation disclosed makes a near
letter quality print with reusability on a multiwire printer.

Sufficient solid ink is retained on the support film to allow
additional wire printer impacts.  Initial print is that of total
release ribbons followed by slow decline in print quality.  The
concept is particularly adaptable to printers that selectively
provide grades of overstrike capability.

An example of an ink exhibiting these qualities when coated on
polyethylene terephalate follows:
      PICCOLASTIC A75*              38.75%
      KEMESTER 6000 SE**            38.75%
      Nigrosine Stearate             7.50%
      Toluene                       15.0%

The ink coating can be applied to the film base as solvent
borne, water borne of hot melt.
