Remote Access of Facsimile Machine Activity Reports

Disclosed is a means for accessing facsimile machine
activity reports from a remote location.

A common feature of facsimile machines is that of providing a
printed log of all transmissions and receptions. This is usually
called an activity report.  This report may be printed after a
certain number of operations or at any time at the request of the
operator.

The improvement disclosed here is that of providing access to a
facsimile machine's activity report from a remote location.

The operator at a central locations may request a report using
a proprietary facsimile communications command. The report is sent
from the remote unit either as an image or as an ASCII file (as
requested by the central operator). Image format would be useful for
viewing or printing while ASCII format would allow the report to be
edited as a text file.

Thus, an operator in a central location can very quickly
receive activity reports from all his remote machines.  This would
allow for easy collection of data for billing and tracking purposes.
