List Style to Display Mini Icons Horizontally

This article describes a facility for displaying a list
in a style where a mini icon represents each item in a list. These
icons would be displayed horizontally across the screen.  Mini icons
is a desired style because of its efficient use of screen space.

The presentation of the list can be easily transformed to this
style through the use of a simple message. Applications can easily
manage a single list interface.

Current list controls do not support the changing of the
presentation style to that of Mini Icons with text on right (see
figure for sample of this style).

The solution is to provide the application with the ability to
change the current presentation style to that of mini icons with text
to the right. The list control will keep a mini icon bitmap and a
mini icon text string for each item in the list. On notification (by
message) of a format change to this style,  the list will repaint the
screen using the mini icons with text on right style.
