Abstract

Consider a computer calendar system that provides for the entry of daily notes, and which prints one or more weeks of calendars. It is useful to the users of this calendar system to be able to request a summary of the week's notes separate from the events of the week. In particular, users who use the calendar as a journal or log, and make contemporaneous entries before, during or after events of a day may wish to print the week's notes as a diary. Refer to Fig. 1. This shows a screen by which the user can ask that a page of week notes be printed with the week's calendar pages. Refer to Fig. 2. This is a page of weekly notes. The columns give the day of the week, the date, and the text of the note. If the week has more notes than can be printed on one page, enough pages are printed to contain them all.

This text was extracted from an ASCII text file.
This is the abbreviated version, containing approximately 87% of the total text.

Calendar Summary

Consider a computer calendar system that provides for the
entry of daily notes, and which prints one or more weeks of
calendars.  It is useful to the users of this calendar system to be
able to request a summary of the week's notes separate from the
events of the week.  In particular, users who use the calendar as a
journal or log, and make contemporaneous entries before, during or
after events of a day may wish to print the week's notes as a diary.
Refer to Fig. 1.  This shows a screen by which the user can ask that
a page of week notes be printed with the week's calendar pages.
Refer to Fig. 2.  This is a page of weekly notes. The columns give
the day of the week, the date, and the text of the note.  If the
week has more notes than can be printed on one page, enough pages are
printed to contain them all. The week note page can be personalized
with the user's name and the date of the week.  This is useful to
users for whom the notes will form a permanent record of the week.

If the calendar system also supports a list of things to do
("todo" items), a summary of the week's todo's can be similarly
printed.  Refer again to Fig. 1. The user can choose to print, or
not, a summary page of the week's todo items as described above for
the summary page of week notes. Refer to Fig. 3.  This shows a
typical page of the things to do for the week.  As for the notes,
each line gives the day and date of the item with the item
description.
