Query Manager Procedures Run at Start of a Panel Instance

Disclosed is a design which allows OS/2* Query Manager
Panel designers to specify a Query Manager Procedure which is run
before the display of each Panel instance.  The Procedure which is
run can provide Panel field initialization as well as other
user-defined function.

Query Manager Panels provide a user-defined interface to SQL
data.  The display of a particular 'instance' of a Panel is based on
accessing a row from the connected relational database.  The designer
of a Panel may require that certain processing be performed each time
a row is accessed but before it is displayed.  Query Manager is
providing an interface which allows the designer to name a procedure
to run before each instance is displayed.  The user can specify
different procedures to be run in Add mode (new rows are being added)
and Change mode (existing rows are being changed).

Any data which has been accessed for the Panel instance will be
available to the procedure in the Query Manager variable pool.  The
procedure can access this data and modify it as appropriate.  Since
the data on the Panel is displayed from the variable pool, the
ability to modify the data allows the procedure to do field
initialization when running in Add mode; for example, today's date
could be automatically set into a Date field.

The procedure can issue other Query Manager commands as well as
Panel operations.  This flex...
