Background

      In a dual-processor computer system, a second CPU and heatsink cause interference with the socket-J load lever arm. The lever arm cannot open sufficiently far to enable the package to be assembled in the socket.

      Conventionally, the problem is solved by increasing the distance between the two CPUs. However, this solution is unacceptable from a customer viewpoint because board real estate and performance are impacted.

General description

      The disclosed method improves the existing socket-J DSL lever arm and load plate. They contain slotted-tab features that enable the DSL load plate to be opened while eliminating the interference of the DSL lever arm with an adjoining CPU or heatsink.
