Granular Installation of Database Services

A program is disclosed that reduces the amount of DASD
required to install the Database Services portion of the OS/2*
Extended Edition Database Manager.

There are 3 different configurations of Database Services:
Server, Requester, and Standalone. The 3 configurations require the
following amounts of DASD:
                     Server        3.3 Megabytes
                     Requester     2.4 Megabytes
                     Standalone    3.2 Megabytes

In addition, there is a module of code for the DOS Database
Requester which may be optionally installed on a Server machine. This
would require an additional .4 Megabytes on the Server.

It is very important to the success of OS/2 Extended Edition
1.2 that the code require as little DASD as possible, in particular
for the Requester workstation. This will be the most common
configuration, and the less DASD required, the less chance the
customer will have to upgrade his hardware to use OS/2 Extended
Edition 1.2.

Database Manager install code will ask the user a few simple,
easy-to-understand questions to determine which of the above
configurations he needs and will then install the appropriate code.
