Unique Name in the Context of an Application

This article describes a method for allowing enterprise
users to specify the unique name of an object in the context of an
application.

An enterprise user may wish to have a unique name assigned to a
library object.  Furthermore, the user may wish to assign a unique
name to a library object in the context of a particular application
such that the object can be uniquely identified in that application.
No mechanism prior to this article exists in the Document Interchange
Architecture for this association.

This article provides a mechanism whereby an enterprise user
can assign a unique name to a library object in the context of any
application to allow the object to be uniquely identified in that
application.  This is provided by defining the syntax and semantics
of a new field in the CONTEXT parameter of the UNIQUE-NAME operand in
the Document Interchange Architecture.
